Learning Lab's summer program will serve children entering grades one through five in the 2024-2025 school year. The daily schedule includes reading, math, and writing enrichment, as well as an art activity. Children are challenged to reach their full potential through carefully planned activities that focus on skills that will be covered in the grade children will be entering in the fall. Student-teacher ratio is low in order to ensure that students receive sufficient individual attention and support.
Parents also have the option to have their children stay for extended hours. During this time, children engage in thematic learning. Each day, children participate in several hands-on activities across many disciplines (literacy, art, STEM, etc.) in order to deepen their understanding of a fun social studies or science theme. Some examples of past themes include submarines (shown to the left), rainbows, knights, the Philippines, and surfing. Activities are designed to accommodate different learning styles and to allow many opportunities for children to work collaboratively.
Summer Program Dates
Our 2024 summer program will operate Monday to Friday from July 1st through August 27th (except for 7/4 & 7/5). Registration is currently open. If you are interested in registering your child for our summer program, please complete our online form at www.learninglabny.com/summer-registration.
Daily Schedule
Learning Lab's summer program hours are 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Extended hours are available (additional fee applies).
Each day, our summer program follows the schedule below:
8:15 am - 9:00 am Reading Enrichment
9:00 am - 9:45 am Math Enrichment
9:45am - 10:15 am Snack and Break (Snack is not provided - please send your child with a snack and water)
10:15 am - 11:00 am Writing Enrichment
11:00 am - 11:20 pm Lunch (Lunch is not provided - please send your child with a lunch and water)
11:20 pm - 12:00 pm Recess (Recess will be held outdoors at the PS144 playground unless it is raining, if there is the threat of rain, or if it is too hot out.)
12:00 pm - 12:45 pm Art
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Extended Hours - Thematic Learning (additional fee applies)
Pricing
Spots for the summer program are reserved upon payment for desired dates. Parents can choose to sign their child up for a few days per week or entire weeks. They can also choose specific weeks during the summer that they would like their child to participate. Please note that there is a minimum commitment of two days per week for three weeks.
For two to four days per week, the cost is $65 per day. For all five days a week, the cost is $290 per week.
Extended hours are from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm for an addition cost of $40 per day for children who are there from 8:00 to 1:00.
*For children who are only participating from 1:00 to 4:00, the cost is $50.
Sibling Discount
We offer a sibling discount of 5% for the younger sibling.
Cancellation Policy
From the moment you register until April 30th, full refunds are available with the exception of a $75 cancellation fee.
From May 1st until May 31st, you will receive a 50% refund less a $75 cancellation fee.
No refunds will be issued after May 31st.
Absence Policy
Spots for our summer program are extremely limited. If a child is unable to make it on a day that they are scheduled to attend due to illness or any other reason, we try our best to accommodate requests for a make-up day on another date that is available. However, most dates do fill up completely, so we cannot guarantee make-up days. Refunds/credit will not be issued for missed days.
